Snack packaging design for D-Jack

The brief

A snack manufacturer selling through convenience stores and supermarkets needs packs that get noticed in a few seconds, show the flavour clearly, and carry the halal logo and product names that Malaysian retailers and buyers look for.

What we designed

The O’Zips Squid Balls pack uses a cream background with a large squid drawn in brown engraving-style linework. An orange band runs down the centre with O’ZIPS set vertically in big cream capitals. A drawn zip curves across the lower half and opens to reveal a photo of the squid balls, which plays on the product name and shows the buyer exactly what is inside. The flavour line Squid BALLS sits in orange at the bottom with the BM and Arabic descriptions underneath.

The Potato Snack Salted Egg Flavour pack takes the opposite approach. Black and yellow hazard stripes frame the top and bottom, and the centre is a black panel with POTATO in green, SNACK in red and SALTED EGG FLAVOUR in yellow, followed by ZERO TRANS FAT. A photo of potatoes on sacking fills the background, and a cut salted egg sits next to the potato sticks so the flavour is clear without reading.

Both packs keep the red and green D-Jack logo in the top corner and place the halal logo where it is easy to find. The two designs look different on purpose, so each product line can build its own recognition on the shelf.
